Live in the moment.
I used to think about my future a lot which is good to a extent but I would neglect or worry less about the things that are right in front of me. That’s the problem with seeing the “potential” in something, it’s not reality until it actually happens. Sometimes people forget to experience their reality as it is because of a vision in their head of what it could be.
I tend to hear people say “I see myself” and “I don’t see myself” in reference to the future. Yes it’s good to have an idea but it’s also good to practice mindfulness, to see and take care of what’s happening now.
Acknowledging your situation whatever it is, is so important because sometimes we have these expectations and get so caught up in them that we don’t enjoy the present moment.
I believe that life is short and tomorrow isn’t promised as Proverbs 27:1 says “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring”. You may have a plan in your head but God may have a different plan for you. People forget this until something major happens like death.
You can’t control what happened in the past nor can you control what’s going to happen in the future!
This is not to say you can’t dream big, you can but the work that you put in now is what’s integral and matters.
So live in the moment.
